A Vibrant College
It is beyond doubt that Shri M. N. Kampani Arts and Shri A. K. Shah Commerce College - Mangrol has emerged as an important centre of learning in the field of higher education in the west zone of Saurashtra region in Gujarat.
The college is an important offshoot of the world renowned institution - Shree Bharat Saraswati Mandir Sansad – Shardagram. The visionary founder farther of the institution late Rev. Mansukhram Jobanputra popularly known as ‘Bapuji’ was a close companion of Mahatma Gandhi. ‘Shri Bapuji’ assimilated Gandhian philosophy of education and successfully implemented it.
It is very necessary to pinpoint here that Shree Shardagram was first started in Karanchi in 1921 and then shifted near Mangrol town in 1949. Soon after its inception, the institution developed into a very progressive institution of national education and played a very important role in the education and cultural activities of both. Pre and past colonial India.
The college has been imparting higher education to the youths of the region for more than one and a half decade. In fact, the college is committed to be the cause of empowerment of the youths of the region through quality education. It has always maintained high standard and strived to pursue excellence in higher education.
The college is situated two kilometers away from Mangrol town in coastal area. It is Co-education College, located in 4 acres of beautiful plain land in urban setting and rural area. The sprawling campus and the sylvan rural setting gives a grandeur and aesthetic appeal to the college. The college runs UG as well as PG level courses. It has on its roll calls more than 1600 students at present. It has always attracted a very big crowd of students. This is because of education rather quality education we impart them. Besides providing quality education, the college is striving hard to develop youths as morally sound, spiritually enlightened and socially responsible citizen. College has, therefore, given significant thrust to the extension, extra curricular and cultural activities. That is to say that, though global in perspective, it is deeply rooted in soil.
Further, college also runs Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University centre and Continuing Education Centre. They undertake various activities and programmes which develop in student’s awareness towards environment and social responsibility as well as academic and cultural values. The programmes are designed in such a way that would lead the individual enrichment and fulfillment of social obligations
The college is much concerned about over all development of students. It creates conducive environment and motivating them to participate in curricular and co curricular activities, community orientation, and personal and spiritual development of the students.
College has formed more than a dozen committees and clubs with a view to drawing out hidden talents of students. The programmes and activities, undertaken by them, offer opportunities for the exposure of their hidden art and talent.
To inculcate a sense of self reliance and self employment, college has undertaken Earn While Learn project. The students are given proper guidance and training for making as well as marketing home appliances.
The college has adopted a goldn mean between TC & LC. In this way, it manages teacher’s talent and overall development of the students. The college promotes innovations in teaching process to make learning a joyous experience. The college has made all possible efforts in getting institutional ambience for teaching learning process. It has augmented infrastructural facilities on and off to keep pace with academic growth as well as with time. To make effective teaching process, the college has developed technologically advanced infrastructure.
The college teachers leave no stone unturned to serve students and make them feel at ease in college. We have shifted our attitude from I attitude to You Attitude. We have started believing that ‘we cannot spell s… ccess without U. This U stands for students.’ We have transformed all our services to ‘learner – centred’. The students are being actively involved in all the activities of college. They have become the centre of all our thinking teaching learning process. Students’ voice is given proper importance in planning, implementing and executing all innovation in teaching learning process.
With vibrant academic atmosphere, activities and ethos as well as teaching - learning recourses, good physical facilities and dedicated staff, college works for the holistic grooming of the students.
It is to be noted here that the college has been making sincere efforts for the process of assessment and accreditation by NAAC. Actually, we want to know where we stand in the dynamic, competitive environment of higher education. The self study report has been prepared and submitted to NAAC for the same. Let me say that the college will prove its worth in the process of quality assurance and will definitely get accredited by the national level apex body. Thus, the present of the college is bright and brilliant but future promises more brightness and brilliancy.
